The city's five-star hotel 'Dhaka Sheraton Hotel' has been renamed 'Ruposhi Bangla Hotel'. The new name will be announced Saturday 30 April 2011 at a press conference. From tomorrow; Sunday 01 May-2011, the renamed hotel will be operated by state-owned Bangladesh Services Ltd (BSL), officials said.
"We have started looking for a world-class operator and management company to run the hotel, and a few international brands have already visited the hotel. Of them, Crown Plaza and Hyatt Hotels and Resorts are in talks with BSL. We will finalize it soon, keeping no ambiguous conditions in the agreement" Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation & Tourism (MCAT) and Chairman of BSL Atharul Islam told the Financial Express Friday.
The new company will have to work in line with the government's renovation proposal and cannot shut down the hotel during renovation, he added.
He said, Lutfur Rahman, managing director of the BSL, is likely to be the chief executive officer, while Mahfuzur Rahman, director of sales and marketing of Dhaka Sheraton, will be the general manager of the new hotel
